WILDFIRE NO028 – JULY 13, 2026 UPDATE

1pm update - there is increased wildfire behavior with a potential impact to PTH No. 6.

Situation:

Wildfire NO028 is approximately 9.6 kms (6 miles) from PTH No. 6 with no natural barriers between the wildfire and the highway.

Action:

Water bombers are currently assisting in fire fighting efforts supporting ground crews. Please follow www.manitoba511.ca for highway updates.

 

The LGD of Mystery Lake will provide updates on its website as received.

WILDFIRE NO028 – JULY 13, 2026 UPDATE

Today - there is increased wildfire behavior with a potential impact to PTH No. 6.

 

Situation:

Wildfire NO028 is approximately 11 kms from PTH No. 6 with no natural barriers between the wildfire and the highway.

 

Action:

Manitoba Wildfire Service (MWS) is actioning the wildfire with ground crews and air attack. MWS is also deploying value protection to the two communication towers in the area.

Manitoba Parks has been notified of potential impacts to Pisew Falls and Paint Lake.

Shared Health will advise Northern Health Region, Medical Transportation Coordination Centre and Emergency Response Services of the situation.

City of Thompson and RCMP are proactively preparing and sharing messages on their social media channels to advise residents of the situation.

 

Next Steps:

Manitoba EMO will continue to monitor the situation and will advise partners as the situation changes.

STATE OF LOCAL EMERGENCY (SoLE) ENDS

As of September 4, 2025, the LGD of Mystery Lake's State of Local Emergency (SoLE) ends.  The SoLE was declared on July 7, 2025 in response to Wildfire No061 which was detected on July 4, 2025.  The condition of this wildfire has changed recently from "out of control" to under control."   The LGD wishes to thank the City of Thompson, MB Wildfire Service and all the firefighters and contractors that have worked tirelessly to protect life and property in the region.

 

BURNING BAN ENDS

The LGD's burning ban is rescinded as of September 4, 2025.   

 

Caution: Wildfire No061, along with Wildfires No062 and No050 continue to burn in the area.  Please take extra care and precautions in lighting any fire.
